Holiday Cheer, author visits & trustworthyness (Chateauguay CLC) – February

New Frontiers:
NFSB was very well represented at the 2017 Provincial Community Learning Centre (CLC) Conference in Montreal. Teachers, our CLC team and principals had the chance to attend workshops, reflect and plan on how to improve their school communities.

Santa Claus made some very special appearances throughout all our elementary schools in December. Santa took time out of his very busy schedule to call into all the schools via the Video Conferencing System and speak with our students.

Community Wednesday…The Heart of the Community
Another great evening was held in December for the whole community of Chateauguay. Over 25 kiosks filled the gym, along with eager children lining up to meet Santa.  The evening included a $2.00 spaghetti supper, free babysitting by station de L’Aventure, Mad Science presentations and free face painting by Howard S. Billings students.

Holiday Breakfast
Holiday joy filled the air at the school on December 13th  as Global News and Generations Foundation put on a holiday breakfast for all staff and students!

A little Friendly Competition
Students from all grades participated in a school wide door-decorating contest in December. New Frontiers School Board representatives came to the school to judge the best-decorated door! Kindergarten brought home 1st place and won an afternoon of hot chocolate, cookies, dancing and stories with the principal. Well done Kindergarten!

MWCN knits with students
Montérégie West Community Network (MWCN) partners up once again with St. Will to offer knitting classes for the students!

Mr.Tom Muirhead, goal technician, engaged and challenged Grade 6 in developing their understanding and knowledge of Entrepreneurship! What an amazing workshop! THANK YOU, Mr. Muirhead!

Author Visits Students
Cycle 2 was honoured with two amazing workshops given by author Lydia Lukidis. Lydia gave workshops on Storytelling and Fractured Fairy Tales. A big thanks to the Culture in Schools grant and the PPO for making this magic happen!

 FUN DAY at St. Will was filled with lots of activities including crazy hat day and a showing of the movie Rudolph.  A big THANK YOU to Videotron for providing the popcorn!

Student Coalition
Student Coalition creatively provided great suggestions on improving their lunch hour.  Thank you lunchtime supervisors for your cooperation and everything you do!

Grade 6 showed us that it is important to be trustworthy – even when it is difficult to do!

Centennial Park
Building Gingerbread Houses
Grade 5 and 6 students worked hard in building gingerbread houses before the Christmas holidays. The Houses were displayed in the hallways of the school for everyone to enjoy!

Comic Book Musical!
CPS is presenting the musical Adventures of a Comic Book Artist on April 11th and 12th at Billings in the auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 and available by contacting Moira Lemme via e-mail at cps (

The Community Learning Centre (CLC) approach is the creation and promotion of partnerships which provide a range of services and activities, during and after the school day, to help meet the needs of our learners, their families and the wider community. The aim is to support the holistic development of our students, families and communities.
